Sermon on the Mount

The Sermon on the Mount is the centerpiece of Jesus’ teaching. The teachings of this “sermon” are reiterated and expanded on throughout the rest of the four Gospels and New Testament Epistles. Often referred to as “The Constitution of the Kingdom of God” these three chapters reveal the essence of what life in the Kingdom of God is meant to look like. The truths and principles in the Sermon on the Mount are the main characteristics and actions the Holy Spirit wants to cultivate in the lives and hearts of all who follow Jesus.

These chapters are to be our primary “discipleship manual.” Through them we personally embrace God’s ordained lifestyle for His people and accordingly disciple unreached and unengaged people groups around the world. When Jesus called His disciples to the Great Commission in Matthew 28:20 and instructed us to “teach them to observe all things I have commanded you” He was primarily referring to the teachings of the Sermon on the Mount. Going deep with the Sermon on the Mount and receiving the empowering of the Spirit to faithfully live it out will produce great transformation in our individual lives and the Kingdom of God.
