Uganda

For many years, many believers, credible servants of God and visitors including Pastors, missionaries (short and long term) and Christian leaders have affirmed Uganda’s potential in reaching the nations of the world. Uganda has entered the 21st century with great potential but also with critical needs. Uganda, a country with 80% Christian religion affiliation has for decades been dogged by a moral crisis as reflected in the HIV/AIDS pandemic which has claimed hundreds of lives each year. They are many young people who want to serve the Lord in cross-cultural mission, but do not have the required skills. In the midst of many challenges there is a growing commitment of the church in Uganda to the great commission, cooperation and partnerships.

As Oswald J. Smith said, “YOU MUST go or send a substitute”. Both the scripture and history records that whenever believers have obeyed the command to go or send or be sent, great promises accompany them and God’s purpose is accomplished: Souls are won to Christ, lives are transformed, Christian maturity occurs, commitment grows, lifetime decisions are made, leaders are developed, miracles are performed, revivals occur, multiplying disciples take place, lasting relationships occur, Churches are planted and grow, the sending and receiving Churches and believers are blessed etc and the fulfillment of the Great Commission is accelerated. All these can never happen when believers are seated in their comfort zone.

The passion of the Uganda Student Mission Movement is to mobilize and empower the body of Christ in Uganda to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the least reached; we desire to see 20,000 Ugandans sent out as ambassadors in least reached places by the year 2020 (vision 20:20). Our higher institutions of learning are central in providing the needed manpower resource in partnership with the body of Christ.
